“On a beautiful late September day we took a cruise with Capt. Gary. What a joy! Wonderful scenery, wildlife and a comfortable stable vessel made the day spectacular. I recommend this adventure to anyone!”

“We’ve visited Bath Maine for decades and didn’t discover this business until this trip. What a great way to see the area. To be fair, the area is beautiful and the views along the river are great so any boat ride through here ought to be nice. But Captain Gary was very friendly and knowledgeable. Went out of his way to assure that we all had a great time and emphasized the things we wanted to see. Six of us had the boat to ourselves and my older grandson was in heaven. Lots of options as to what you can do for a trip. We already have a plan for another one next summer. Don’t miss an opportunity to see the area on this first-class experience.”

“Captain Gary Smith provides a comfortable, informative, enjoyable boat tour for a very reasonable price. The beauty of this tour is that it is private, so Captain Smith is willing to customize it according to your family’s needs. We saw eagles, seals, and Bath Iron Works, which were all requested by my sons (ages 15 and 8). We had a wonderful time and look forward to doing it again next year!”

“While visiting Maine, we wanted to see some history, wild life, and lighthouses. River Run Tours provided ALL of these in one! Capt. Gary was so great and provided a fun tour of Kennebec River all the way out to the mouth of the Atlantic. We saw seals playing in the water and some of the most beautiful water birds. The lighthouses were very scenic, and we got an up-close perspective not normally experienced. Book your river run tour with Capt. Gary!!”

“Captain Gary took my family of 4 for a 2-hour tour of the Kennebec River. This was a fantastic way to see the area from the water. Captain Gary’s boat is spotlessly clean, safe and comfortable. We could relax in the sun or shade while he narrated our journey with fun facts and local history. We had a lovely time as we traveled inland to enjoy the natural geography, seeing seals, eagles, and osprey, etc. We then traveled towards the coast to see the Bath Iron Works shipyard and lighthouses. The entire trip, Captain Gary was thoughtfully accommodating and interesting, making this a must-do trip when visiting mid-coast Maine. We will come back again, probably to head out to the coast. My daughter wants to see a seal colony, and we hear you can arrange a stop at Five Islands Lobster Co. for lobster rolls. Um, yes please!”

“We only had time for a short tour but it was outstanding!! Captain Gary’s knowledge of the area is commendable! Excellent Bald Eagle sightings along with about a half dozen seals or so and just great views of the various rivers and the Bath Shipyard. Highly recommend but would suggest taking a longer tour. With more time you’ll also see a number of lighthouses!”

“Our time on the water with Captain Gary was an absolute delight. We toured multiple rivers, learned about the geography and history, and saw more Maine wildlife than I ever have to date in all my summers–notably adorable seals, osprey, and eagles. There was time to learn, to relax, to chat, to just stare out on the river. Gary is a relaxed tour guide who absolutely loves every trip he takes and is well-versed on the area simply because of his passion for it. If you really want to see Maine’s “best side,” it’s on the water, and we will remember our time for years to come! Note: getting to the boat was surprisingly easy. There is public parking right in front of the public dock. (And bathrooms!) Besides the rest of pretty downtown Bath, there is a supermarket within easy walking distance, if you want to precede your tour with a picnic.”

“We’re a family of four (w/ kids 19 and 13) and we booked a trip with Capt Gary for cruise of Boothbay Harbor and the surrounding islands. We were staying in the Five Islands area of Georgetown and Capt. Gary cruised down from Bath to pick us up at the Five Islands pier, only steps from our rental. His vessel is outstanding for touring — great sight lines and very comfortable. He is very knowledgeable about the surrounding area, was excellent with our kids, suggested a great place to stop for lunch, and showed us some great spots for wildlife (including seals and eagles). We had so much fun, we asked him to come back later in the week for another cruise, and he did!”

“Along with two other adults and a teenager (who was engaged the whole time), I took a two-hour river tour with Captain Gary in early August. The two hours seemed to last forever (in a great way)–I was astounded at how much geographical and environmental variety we experienced in this period. The captain was extremely knowledgeable, friendly, and warm, volunteering information and answering questions at intervals but also letting guests relax. In fact, “relaxing” is probably the dominant adjective I would use to describe the tour, along with exhilarating and fascinating! We learned a good bit about the area’s history and natural features, and experienced the joy of encountering a variety of birds and seals. If I return to the area, I will absolutely inquire about one of the routes that goes a bit out to sea–I was excited to hear this was an option!”
