Dear Captain Ed
My wife and I want to thank you for the best day we had this summer in Maine cruising the picturesque waterways around Bath Maine. The boats accommodations were very comfortable, clean and afforded us great views of the surrounding seascape and landscape with spacious seating. With your ‘custom made’ accompanying musical soundtrack of our favorite songs, our dinner cruise was romantic, intimate, and invigoration all at the same time, with all the surrounding wildlife, sunken ships, lighthouses, and many unique islands to see with clear warm skies & pleasant breezes all contributing to make it a unique meal on the water to remember. We will return with our friends next time to share in this maritime adventure of kicking back with a glass of wine and great music, breathtaking sights with a friendly and competent Captain again and again, Thank You for making our day on the water all it could be!

Thank you for a splendid trip. The boat was extremely well appointed: quiet, stable, shady, spacious enough for adults and children and with superb views all around. The route was well chosen, full of points of interest and supremely relaxing at the same time. Our captain was the perfect host. We look forward to our next trip to Maine and another wonderful voyage with Captain Ed. Please feel free to use this text in part or as whole a testimony on your site.
Best wishes, The Stobart’s
Hi Captain Ed
I wanted to thank you for the wonderful tour my sister and I had for her birthday this year. The river tour and trip to Five Islands really helped to make our Maine vacation very special. I can not think of any improvements since the trip was perfect! Thanks again for a special birthday tour for my sister.

My wife and I really enjoyed the trip to Richmond and around Swan Island. Perfect weather, perfect boat and perfect Captain. The history that you shared really topped it off. Thanks,
Brenda & Bob Carnally, Bath
We would like to thank you for the wonderful time on your boat. You delivered everything that we had hoped to see and more; it was the highlight of our trip. How many folks get to see a squirrel paddling like mad to make it to the opposite shore?! Many thanks, too, from Cheryl for the information regarding the explanation on ships/boats. We went to the three eateries that you suggested and liked all of them. Wonder if they would each like to open up here?! Libby’s Market, from the outside, was not a place that we would have ever imagined having the best lobster roll around. It is a gem!! It was good enough that we went back a second time. We also sent pictures of the roll to family members, and everyone was envious! When we went back the second time, I was referred to as “that boy from Virginia”. Trattoria Athena would surely be on our list of places to eat as often as possible. We had lamb and goat, both delicious. There are several restaurants here that could take lessons from the chefs at Athena. Cheryl and I like a variety of food, and El Caminos would be another favorite were it in Roanoke! There are no Mexican restaurants here that cook from scratch…another refreshing and yummy treat. We had the margaritas too! Again, many thanks.
Dear Captain Ed,
How wonderful to get your email! So glad I’m still on your list. Seeing your name brought back wonderful memories of Maine. Even though it’s been two years, my daughter Suzy and I still tell people our best trip ever was visiting Maine and the wonderful river cruise with Captain Ed, complete with lobster dinner! I know you take hundreds of people out in your boat in a season, and doubt you can place me but just wanted you to know that if we ever get that direction again, we will definately put you and your boat on our destination list! My daughter (whom you didn’t meet) was at Maine State Theatre the following summer, also, and is now living in NYC working as a stage manager. She is hopefully planning a trip to Maine this summer to visit old friends and I will let her know she needs to squeeze in a River Run with Captain Ed. Take care and happy sailing

What would we do without Ed and Marianne Rice? His boat has always been the highlight of our summer company’s trips to Maine! You haven’t seen Maine unless you’ve been on his boat. The views are breathtaking and unlike anything you would see on any coast in the U.S. My company always looks forward to seeing eagles, seals and lighthouses and is never disappointed. Ed and Marianne are great people with great senses-of-humor. They put everyone at ease at soon as they get on the boat and everyone leaves feeling they’ve known them all of their lives.

In July of 2006 my husband and I were guests in Maine. We were lucky enough to have a tour on Ed’s boat. We still are telling our friends down here in Sarasota about it. Ed made the trip very interesting with all his knowledge of the river and the sites we passed. We were really impressed with BIW and especially interested to hear how those huge ships were able to get through the turns of the river by the use of the lighthouses. Ed, himself, is a wonderful, fun person to spend a few hours with and quite entertaining. Sometime we hope to get back up that way and maybe explore another area with his expertise. Thanks again, Ed!

I just wanted to personally thank you for our wonderful boat ride to the Five Islands and back. Us cousins must make this an annual event, as we enjoy the trip, and especially the captain and his knowledge of the area. Will try and send a photo of the group, including the captain, for your web site. Had a great time, and am already looking forward to the next one. Have a great summer.

We made it home without a hitch. Smooth flights the whole way.
I have to tell you, both Suzy and I had the best day Sunday on your boat. The company was exceptional! I’m so glad we got to meet Barbara and her sisiter. And of course, you! We couldn’t stop “gushing” about our day to Laura when we saw her that evening! I have fallen in love with the state of Maine (in the summertime!) and will hopefully make a trip back next summer if Laura ends up at MSMT again. She is sure hoping she can. She too loves the New England area and is hooked. Take care and tell Barbara hello for me. I feel I have some great friends in Maine. If you’re ever this direction, let me know and I can show you some…um…wheatfields! Kansas has a lot more to offer than we let on. It’s an aquired taste! See you soon and keep in touch.
…We had a week of cold and wet with a single break on Tuesday in which we took a River Run Tour with Ed Rice, this was 2+ hours of the most relaxing tour that involved the kids sighting seals and “Black Porpoise” as well as many working lobster boats…

…The boat ride with cap’n Ed Rice of River Run Tours, Inc. was stellar. Ed is a down to earth local who grew up in this area and one day decided to start a business doing what he loves to do, and it was evident. He takes pride in his boat and pleasing his clients…

…we took a boat ride with Ed of River Run Tours. This was very nice, probably the best thing we did all week. The air was very pleasant, and it was such a scenic ride. We got to see seals, and a Bald Eagle. We followed the eagle for some time to get a great picture…
…we went out on our “River Run” ride with captain Ed Rice. We had called him on Monday to arrange the trip. He pulled up to the end of the pier right on time at 11:00 and took us down past Boothbay and around Westport Island. It’s a beutuful day and we saw Seals and Ospreys, a Lighthouse and some very nice places. Ed was very nice and friendly. Not only will we take him up on his suggestion to take us up the Kennebec, but we will refer him to family from away who come up looking for the “Maine Experience!” Really a Great not to be missed Excursion…
“Absolutely spectacular! Captain Ed is a thoughtful, knowledgeable, kind, and extremely competent pilot and guide. He talked with us in advance and did everything we needed to do (a combination of education and touring) in a reasonable time and for a terrific price. His pontoon is wonderfully comfortable, including the head. We could not be more pleased. Thanks, captain Ed!” Grant 7/17/14
